Escape XML special characters for valid data transmission.

About This Tool

Prepare your text data for XML integration by escaping reserved characters. Ensure your XML documents remain well-formed and valid for all parsers.

Frequently Asked Questions

XML has five predefined entities: < (<), > (>), & (&), " ("), and ' ('). These must be escaped if they are used as data.

If you include reserved characters directly in an XML element, the XML parser will think they are part of the markup structure, which leads to a "not well-formed" document error.

They are very similar, but XML only recognizes five predefined entities, whereas HTML recognizes hundreds of named entities (like © or ™).
