CSV Escape
Developer ToolsEscape text for safe use in CSV files.
About This Tool
Prepare your data for CSV export by handling commas, double quotes, and newlines. Ensure your data doesn't break column structures in Excel or Google Sheets.
Frequently Asked Questions
If a cell value contains a comma, the CSV parser will think it is a new column. Escaping wraps the value in quotes to keep the data in a single cell.
In standard CSV formatting (RFC 4180), any literal double quote inside a cell must be escaped by preceding it with another double quote ("").
A value must be wrapped in double quotes if it contains a comma, a newline character, or a double quote itself.
